I love solving problems.
What I hate though is solving the same problem over and over again.
You know the feeling. That one issue in your business that keeps reappearing, like a bad sequel nobody asked for. You slap on a fix, feel good for a month or two, and just when you think it’s gone, you’re having to solve it again.
I call this the band-aid problem.
I’ll give you two examples, one I still haven’t cracked and one I finally have. And yes, I am going to include a gym story is coming, because what’s a good business analogy without some reference to working out and going to the gym?
Let’s talk about design in our business. I wish I had a forever solution to this one, but the truth is, I don’t.
We’re still juggling briefs between multiple freelancers based on the design needs of our clients. Some weeks its busy, others not a single design is needed. That means we can’t sign any designers or retainer, nor is it enough work for a full-time designer.
It’s a recurring headache.
Every quarter, we try something new. Hire a freelancer, test a new tool, set up another process.
The problem feels fixed for a while, but it never really leaves.
Now, for something I actually figured out.
For over a decade, my fitness “strategy” was a mix of optimism and denial. I’d go to gym for a few weeks, then quietly ghost the treadmill.
Every year, same cycle. New plan, new gear, same lack of results.
Enter Ryan, my personal trainer.
I go once a week, he tells me what to do, counts my reps, keeps it interesting and pushes me.
Whenever I think about fitness, I have my Ryan. I don’t have to think about a new schedule, or worry about when I’m supposed to go or if I’m even doing the right thing. Ryan handles all of that for me.
It’s a forever solution.
Notice the difference? This isn’t a band-aid. It’s a real fix. I don’t think about what to do, when to go, or whether I’m making progress. I just show up, and it’s handled.
My gym problem is solved for good. ✅
Here’s a quick breakdown of what makes a “forever solution” different from a band-aid
Band-Aid
Forever Solution
In your business, what are the services you offer that are forever solutions and which are band-aids? Can you turn your band-aids into forever solutions with some small changes?
We’re a growth marketing forever solution — newsletters, outbound emails, LinkedIn content, sales collateral, landing pages, growth strategy, marketing campaigns, you name it. All handled.
Our clients don’t need to ask, “Who’s writing this week’s newsletter?” or “When’s our next LinkedIn post going live?” It’s just done.
Their marketing and lead generation is completely handled.
Is the service you offer a forever solution? Or a band-aid that loses its stickiness after a few months?
Ask yourself:
If it feels like you’re stuck in the business equivalent of changing band-aids every month, maybe it’s time to rethink how you deliver value.
Nobody remembers the person who hands out band-aids. People remember those who fixed the problem for good.
If you want to build real trust, get referrals, and sleep better at night, focus on solving problems once and forever. Your clients will thank you (and you might even enjoy your weekends again).
If you’re in the market for your growth marketing and lead generation to be solved for good, get in touch and let’s get it handled.
We’d love you to share it with your friends, colleagues or your marketing team.
